Emily is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and specialises in employment law.
Emily provides advice to both employees and employers on a range of employment matters.
For employee clients, this includes advising them on their employment rights, including family rights such as maternity related matters, grievances, redundancy, reviewing their contract of employment along with advising and providing support to individuals who have been presented with a Settlement Agreement from their employer.
Emily enjoys building relationships with individuals and helping them achieve the best possible outcome with regards to their employment issues. Her caring approach to handling matters is shown through the recommendations she receives from previous clients she has represented.
For employer clients, Emily provides advice on their rights and obligations as employers, worker status, and drafting and reviewing all types of employment contracts and policies.
Emily also supports and assists our team of employment specialists with regards to clients bringing or defending employment tribunal claims and has experience of issuing claims in the High Court.
Emily qualified as a Fellow in December 2016 having taken exams in criminal law, employment law and family law. She started her career as a Litigation Executive working in criminal defence which included representing clients at the police station. She then decided to change disciplines and specialise in employment law. Prior to joining the team at Couchman Hanson, Emily worked in the employment department at a regional firm advising and assisting a wide of range of clients. It was there that she completed her work-based learning portfolio of her work undertaken and qualified as a Fellow.
Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children, running the odd 5k to 10k, competing in quizzes and has a passion for listening to nineties boybands.
