It's Business as Usual at Couchman Hanson

UPDATE 20 AUGUST 2020

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING CORONAVIRUS:

Due to the ongoing health concerns with COVID-19 (coronavirus) the health, safety and well-being of our clients, colleagues and staff is our top priority.  Our administration team are now attending the office on a rotational basis, to keep numbers to a minimum. Visits can therefore be arranged to drop off documents or for the purposes of providing identification. Please call in advance to book a time. Our solicitors will continue to work from home for the time being.  In the event that meetings are required, clients will be offered a remote meeting (either Zoom or telephone) to ensure that any work or proceedings are not affected.

Our firm has always operated agile and flexible working policies, and our staff are experienced in working in this way with no impact on the level of care or service we provide to clients.  As things progress, we aim to keep our clients regularly updated as to any changes that may occur.

Thank you for your understanding.

20 March 2020

Nothing has changed regarding the exceptional service we offer at Couchman Hanson. We’ve just gone virtual.

With the current situation regarding the Coronavirus requiring many people to work from home or even self-isolate, in the interest of looking after our employees we have decided to close the Couchman Hanson offices for the time being. At the same time we recognise that this could be a stressful situation for many and that you may need to seek legal counsel. So, even though we’re not in the office, we haven’t shut up shop. It’s still business as usual.

Virtual legal services

We’re using all the technology at our disposal to offer you the same service you expect from Couchman Hanson. All that has changed is that we’ve gone virtual. We’re still your friendly, reliable team of solicitors, providing peace of mind for you, your family and your business. You can talk to our team on the phone using our office number or we can arrange face-to-face video calls.

Our services

If you have any legal concerns, or are unsure about where you stand during this current upheaval, it’s time to talk to Couchman Hanson. Our team of experts can help you with everything you need.

Wills, LPA and Probate

For example, at a time when everyone is trying to look after their health, taking drastic steps when necessary, have you got your Will in order?

It’s not nice to think about, but should the worst happen, making a Will now can relieve a lot of stress for your loved ones. Our team can help you draw up a Will or update your existing one to reflect any new developments. We can also help you give someone you trust Lasting Powers Of Attorney, should you be too sick to manage your affairs.

If someone you know has recently passed away and has a Will, our Probate team are experts at dealing with estates and understand the processes and paperwork involved. Alternatively, we can provide Executors and Administrators with the necessary guidance to perform this role.

Family Law

The Coronavirus is causing many families to be stuck in their homes together, with nowhere to go and not much to do. Somewhat like Christmas, this time of uncertainty and stress could be the final straw for many marriages.

If you’re thinking of divorce at this time, you need someone on your side who knows the divorce process, with experience of achieving what you want.

At Couchman Hanson, our Family Law team will be able to help you navigate on this journey towards a fair and stress-free outcome for all parties.

Employment Law

It’s also a tremendously difficult time in the world of work. Employers want to look after their staff, but are worried about what will happen to their business if a large proportion of their employees show symptoms of the virus and have to self-isolate. On the other hand, employees are wondering if they still have jobs and an income to support themselves and their families.

Our team of Employment Law solicitors will be able to help employers implement HR policies that will relieve the stress on your staff, and you. Together, your employees and your business can survive and thrive through this unprecedented time.

Meanwhile, if you’re an employee who is concerned about their working arrangements, or wondering about your rights during this time, Couchman Hanson will be able to reassure you, as well as act on your behalf if something is wrong.

Contract and Commercial Law

For businesses this is an extremely trying time – how to best lead and care for your employees (see our previous article for more info HERE) and continue to serve your clients with excellence.

Your business may be part of a supply chain and you need to better understand your commercial liabilities. For some this could be an opportunity for innovation or expansion (including mergers and acquisitions), knowing where you stand contractually with partners or suppliers can foster successful on-going relationships.

That said, if you find you and/or your business partners are caught in a legal dispute or litigation, our Company and Commercial Law team have a successful track record in corporate governance, negotiations and providing sound and forward-thinking advice.
